Starting Salary: $28,460.80

Qualifications:

1. Must have prior law enforcement or related security experience, or at least an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice.
2. Must complete all required training programs in a satisfactory manner, as determined by the Allentown School District.
3. Consistent record of satisfactory work performance.
4. Clear or acceptable background and clearance checks.

Summary
The Security Officer assists in the educational process by protecting students and staff members from harm while on school premises, and protecting school-owned property from loss or damage caused by anti-social acts. This is an 11-month position, with responsibilities spanning the regular school and summer school sessions up to a maximum of 225 days.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Incumbents must be able to perform the following minimum duties in a satisfactory manner, with or without reasonable accommodations:

1. Patrols assigned building, grounds and halls to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
2. Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows and gates to determine that they are secure.
3. Confronts unauthorized persons for identification, routing and/or assistance or calls police for assistance according to emergency action plan.
4. Responds as directed by the building administrator in matters of security.
5. Patrols school grounds and adjacent areas as assigned to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles.
6. Draft and submit written reports of security incidents and violations.
7. Responds immediately to all requests for assistance in emergency situations.
8. Performs other duties as assigned under contract.
